Greywater

...is wastewater from a
shower
bathroom sink
washing machine
laundry tubs.

It is not water from the
kitchen sink
dishwasher
or toilet.

.....a greywater system is a plumbing installation to redirect greywater to the landscape to be used as irrigation on new or existing vegetation.
Each building and site are unique requiring  each greywater system to be custom to the buildings plumbing layout, the amount of water generated and the landscape where water will infiltrate. The first step to a greywater system is a site assessment to determine what is possible and most effective for the property and the people.

Note: An average American uses 150 gallons of water per day, a family of four up to 219,000 gallons per year. In Southern California half of the water goes toward landscape irrigation.

Benefits of greywater reuse:
  • reduce use of potable water to irrigate plants
  • reducing monthly water costs
  • increase biodiversity
  • minimize the burden on the public wastewater treatment system  recharge the aquifer
  • grow food
  • complements drought tolerant and native landscapes
  • guilt free showers
  • irrigate a fire break
