Picture
The award winning edible landscape had over 35 plants ranging from fruit trees, berry bushes, grapes and natives all displayed in a bountiful and beautiful landscape. Based on Permaculture principles of regeneration, the Homestead captures rainwater and greywater for irrigation, utilizing the suns energy to produce electricity for the LED lights and laptop, and optimizes small spaces to reduce our carbon footprint. The Homestead is an elegant model of self reliance and green living.

As San Diego and the US shifts toward a regenerative and ecological lifestyle, this display offers simple solutions for food security, water independence, safe energy solutions. The building provides additional space while showcasing ecological materials and systems that are durable, non-toxic, and fire and insect resistant. The building produces its own power and water, so can exist off-grid. The 8'x8' dwelling can be used as a home office, sleeping room, craft space, home school classroom or any number of uses. Project Based Permaculture
Basic Design Certificate Course
Coming in July 2013

Learn basic design skills needed to create a permanent culture. Currently we live in a culture that is focused on consuming rather than producing. In our 12 day course we will look at how our way of life can be transformed to one that is regenerative and abundant while honoring all life. We will design systems that collect and reuse water, build soil and grow food, capture energy and reduce waste while building a home and community that honors all life. The instructors are trained in restoration biology and green architecture. The course is hands-on, project based and includes several fields trips and site visits to existing regenerative sites.
